Last night was a big night, Louis Theroux hosted a Q&A event of The Look of Silence in over 90 cinemas across the UK and Ireland. Joining him for the Q&A was director Joshua Oppenheimer and special guest, main protagonist of the film Adi Rukun. The event was live in the brand new Picturehouse Central and broadcast via satellite to the other cinemas. The Look of Silence is the companion piece to 2013 BAFTA winning film The Act of Killing, in case you missed the even the film is on general release now so visit thelookofsilence.co.uk for screenings and more information.
Below we share some of our favourite moments and photos from the night, thanks to those who came along. First of all, we just love this photo of Louis and Joshua together ahead of the screening:
Louis Theroux introduced the film praising The Act of Killing, before bringing Joshua Oppenheimer on stage.
After the screening Louis rejoined us on stage before bringing Joshua Oppenheimer, Adi Rukun and translator Papang on stage to join him for the Q&A.
The first couple of questions were from Louis himself, but we quickly opened up to the audience which led to this very special moment. Before asking his question, Joshua and Adi were treated with a heartfelt message about the importance of the film in Indonesian.
We then opened up to questions on twitter using #lookofsilence, and we were happy to receive many great questions! Unfortunately we were pressed on time and didn't get to all of them.
We had an absolutely incredible evening being able to share this film with so many of you, we leave you to remember the night with this photo of Joshua and Louis smiling big.
