We started out the festival with an absolutely incredible opening night of Sheffield Doc/Fest, featuring the UK premiere of The Look of Silence. Director Joshua Oppenheimer and main character Adi Rukun were present for an emotional Q&A following the film.
On Saturday we started the day with Joshua Oppenheimer fantastic masterclass. That evening we had our annual Dogwoof dinner with the Dogwoof team and Dogwoof filmmaker including Matthew Heineman, Joshua Oppenheimer, Kim Longinotto, Bob Moore, David Sington and Robert Gordon.
Following dinner we rushed to the Cartel Land UK premiere, where Judy Hetherington presented the Tim Hetherington award in honour of her late son to Matthew Heineman. It was a really lovely moment and the premiere was followed by a Q&A with director Matt. Also playing at the festival were Dreamcatcher, Maidan, Best of Enemies, Chameleon, Iris and 3½ Minutes, Ten Bullets.
We were very lucky to receive awards for three films at the festival:
The Audience Award - The Look of Silence
Tim Hetherington Award - Cartel Land
The Youth Jury Award - 3½ Minutes, Ten Bullets
