Trifecta of Tribeca World premieres

Tribeca Film Festival 2019 has begun and features seven Dogwoof films, three of which are world premieres.

Premiering in the documentary competition will be Mystify Michael Hutchence, an intimate portrait of the rock legend who came to a tragic end. Richard Lowenstein uses archive footage and interviews with Hutchence’s family and friends to paint this picture, creating an emotional account of the INXS frontman’s life.

XY Chelsea and Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound will both be premiering In the Movies Plus category.

Following the dramatic story of whistle-blower Chelsea Manning, XY Chelsea takes a closer look into the life of Manning after being released from prison for leaking crucial documents to Wiki Leaks demonstrating America’s war crimes during the Iraq war. Tim Travers Hawkins follows Chelsea as she struggles to be taken seriously politically, emotionally and as a transgender woman.

Making Waves: The Art of Cinematic Sound offers a behind the scenes look into how sound is created and used throughout the making of films. The film features giant names in the film industry such as sound designers Walter Murch (Apocalypse Now, The Godfather) Ben Burtt (Star Wars, Raiders Of The Lost Ark) and Gary Rydstrom (Saving Private Ryan, Toy Story). Directors George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, David Lynch, Barbra Streisand, Sofia Coppola, Christopher Nolan and Ryan Coogler also feature.

Tribeca film festival will take place from 24th April-5th May and a full line-up can be found here.
