KOKOMO CITY

A FILM BY D. Smith

We're delighted to be releasing Kokomo City in the UK & IRE, the feature directorial debut of producer, singer and songwriter D. Smith. The documentary won the audience and innovator awards in the Next section at Sundance, going on to an international premiere in Panorama Dokumente at the Berlinale.

THE ETERNAL MEMORY

A FILM BY MAITE ALBERDI

Ahead of its European Premiere at Berlinale, the Dogwoof Sales acquired the Sundance award winning film The Eternal Memory for international sales. The heart felt documentary is directed by Maite Alberdi who Dogwoof previously collaborated on her Oscar® nominated film The Mole Agent.

The film traces the story of a man who has spent his whole life writing in a bid to prevent collective forgetting, but who is now himself gradually losing his memory, recieved fantastic critical reviews and won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival.

 

SERENA AND VENUS WILLIAMS, WESTBROOK STUDIOS BOARD COPA ‘71

We were thrilled to reveal this week, that Westbrook Studios, Venus Williams and Serena Williams have joined the Copa ‘71 team! Tennis champions, the Williams’ sisters have come on board the Dogwoof production as Executive Producers, along with our co-production partners Westbrook Studios backing the documentary, which uncovers the untold story of the 1971 Women’s World Cup.

Soccer teams from all over the world gathered in Mexico City’s Azteca Stadium to compete in front of more than 100,000 spectators, in 1971. It was the last women’s World Cup until the official FIFA event 20 years later. Dismissed by the male-dominated football associations around the world, the event was written out of history — until now.

BEYOND UTOPIA

A FILM BY MADELEINE GAVIN

Dogwoof has also boarded the Winner of the Audience Award at Sundance Film Festival, Beyond Utopia, with the film being selected for the upcoming CPH:DOX festival next month. Described by the Hollywood Reporter as a “An astonishing real-life geopolitical thriller” The film is suspenseful look at the lengths people will go to gain freedom. Beyond Utopia follows various individuals as they attempt to flee North Korea, one of the most oppressive places on Earth, a land they grew up believing was a paradise.
