Welcome to Docs at Home - a Self-Isolation Film Festival from yours truly, the Dogwoof Team. We believe that self-isolation doesn’t have to be lonely and that we can all work together to keep documentary alive at home. Over the next few days, each member of the Dogwoof Team will share with you a doc recommendation to make self-isolating a little bit better. Find out our picks below, and keep watching docs!
Eleonora’s Pick - CUNNINGHAM
Digital Marketing & Social Coordinator
While it happened for good reasons, it was heartbreaking to see cinemas close across the UK just after we released Cunningham. We’ve luckily been able to give it an early digital release to let you step into Merce Cunningham’s mesmerising world right from your living room! If for a while we won’t be able to escape to the cinema (or to do a modern dance sequence on a New York rooftop), we can at least imagine it. Watch at home.
JAMES’ Pick - finding fela
UK Distribution Assistant
Finding Fela assembles a roster of family, friends, collaborators, and admirers to recount the events of legendary Fela Kuti's life; the gifted and incredibly complicated pioneer of Afrobeat music in Nigeria. This is one not to be missed by any doc-lover! Watch at home.
yung’s Pick - weiner
Publicist
In this US election year it's good to have a reminder of the strange and surreal world of politics. Weiner is an inside look at ex-Congressman Anthony Weiner's 2016 New York Mayoral campaign, the filmmakers were granted exclusive access to all aspects of the campaign and the results are fascinating and entertaining in equal measure. Watch at Home.
luke’s Pick - dark days

As it focuses on people who live underground in perpetual darkness, maybe working from home isn’t all that bad… Watch at Home.
DROO’s Pick - GIMME DANGER

My Dogwoof At Home pick is the raucous Gimme Danger. As a lifelong fan of both Iggy and The Stooges, this AAA doc from one of our cinema greats (Jim Jarmusch) has inspired me to have a solo rock'n'roll karaoke party this weekend. f**k yeah! Watch at Home.

If the blurring of fact and fiction doesn't stress you out right now then Kate Plays Christine should be on your list. It's one of those mind-bending docs that might leave you even more confused than the current state of the world! Watch at Home.
jim’S PICK - memory: the origins of alien

Bloss and I getting ready to be scared with Memory: The Origins Of Alien. Because why not escape to a dystopian future that is much more fun than our own! Watch at Home.
lucy’S PICK - lo and behold
Sales Coordinator
There's always something reassuring about listening to Werner Herzog, so I've recently found myself drawn to Lo and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World. Essential watching for these times, it examines our use of technology and relationship with the internet. Warning: may evoke philosophical pondering. Watch at Home.
dan’S PICK - mountain
Head of Home Entertainment
Working from home may be about as thrilling as filling out a tax return but you can always enjoy a breathtaking voyage into the extreme with Jennifer Peedom's Mountain on demand. Narrated by Willem Dafoe and shot in glorious 4K, transport yourself to some of the world's most majestic mountain peaks - from the comfort of your sofa. Watch at Home.
asha’S PICK - midnight family

My favorite recent doc! Shocking and touching in equal measure, it tells of one family's struggle to run a private ambulance in Mexico City, fighting to make a living in the face of corruption and poverty. Watch at Home.
MARCEL’S PICK - THREE IDENTICAL STRANGERS
Head of Theatrical Sales
(Re)watch this mind blowing BAFTA nominated documentary examining the nature vs nurture argument through archive footage, interviews and dramatic reconstructions of this unmissable, twisted true story. Watch at Home.
KONSTANTINOS’ PICK - LOTS OF KIDS, A MONKEY AND A CASTLE
Sales & Acquisitions Executive
Whether you're at home with your family, or missing your family during quarantine, Lots of Kids, A Monkey and a Castle is the perfect doc to watch. Shot by her son, the film tells the story of Julita, the matriarch of a Spanish family, who all her life wanted three things: lots of kids, a monkey and a castle. It's a hilarious and moving story of what happens when she has to give up the castle, during the economic crisis and how it ends up bringing the family even closer together. Watch at Home.
danny’S PICK - bad reputation
Technical Manager
Brilliant doc about Joan Jett. The stuff she had to put up with to become a star is truly shocking. Watch at Home.
ana’S PICK - advanced style
Head of Sales
Ladies should cheer up and start thinking in the summer wardrobe after the lockdown. Watch Advanced Style for inspiration. Watch at Home.
oli’S PICK - blackfish
Head of Distribution & Acquisitions
Too many classics to choose from (cheeky shout out to Bombay Beach and Minding The Gap) but I've gone for Blackfish, the film that changed everything for Dogwoof. As we all dream about one day being able to go on holiday again, this will reinforce that you ain't going to Seaworld. Watch at Home.
lucie’S PICK - the price of everything
Head of Business Affairs
Working from home when you’ve just moved isn’t always the comfiest! I love re-watching The Price of Everything because it ticks all the boxes for world-class documentary filmmaking: bigger-than-life contributors, stranger-than-fiction stories. Watch at Home.
anna’S PICK - cartel land
CEO
I still remember watching the rough cut - I wasn't expecting much, just another film, another rough cut to get through.
BUT then, I started watching: OMG, my heart was racing all the way through. Definitely the best doc on the war of drugs I've ever EVER seen. Watch at Home.
