Sheffield Doc/Fest was a busy fest for Dogwoof ten films, eight premieres, three awards and our annual Dogwoof dinner and party.
eight Premieres
We premiered a colossal eight films at this year's festival including the UK premiere for Mark Cousin's The Eyes of Orson Welles and the world premiere of Chris Martin's Under The Wire.
DOGWOOF PARTY
The annual Dogwoof party packed out DINA bar for another year in a row with delegates meeting the Dogwoof team and enjoying free drinks and snacks.
THREE AWARDS Won at DOC/FEST
Audience voted and were heard. Minding the Gap won the Doc Audience Award this year at Sheffield DOCFEST. The film was also awarded the New Talent Award recognizing the work of up and coming filmmakers. Juror Sophie Fiennes announced that this year’s winner of the Illuminate Award is the charming film om family ties. América, directed by Erik Stoll and Chase Whiteside.
TIM HETHERINGTON AWARD – KINSHASA MAKAMBO
Kinshasa Makambo was awarded the Tim Hetherington Award, supported by Dogwoof. The film follows three men as they risk it all to mobilise a rebel generation and unseat Joseph Kabila in Kinshasa.
dINNER TIME!
We met up with some of directors from the festival to get to know them better as well as enjoy delicious three-course meal.
Three members of the Dogwoof team spoke at this year's Doc/Fest. Head of Marketing Dorottya Székely, Theatrical Sales Manager Marcel Karst and Sales Executive Cleo Veger all took part in panels and presentations sharing their knowledge and insights with current and aspiring filmmakers.
