It was a full house at London's Frontline Club for the preview screening of City of Ghosts on Tuesday 4 July. A hunting ground for those interested in international affairs and independent journalism, the club was the perfect location for London's first showing of the film which follows citizen journalists taking to social media in their fight against ISIS.
Academy Award® nominated director Matthew Heineman floew out from the US to attend an intimate Q&A with host Paul Conroy, a photojournalist who was smuggled out of Syria after the building he was in was shelled. Paul invited questions from the floor after interviewing Matthew about the film.
City of Ghosts, a real-life international thriller from the director of Cartel Land, maps the journey of a handful of anonymous activists who banded together after their homeland was taken over by Daesh in 2014.
