Chaired by our very own Head of Distribution and Screen International’s ‘Leaders of Tomorrow’ 2014, Oli Harbottle, filmmakers featuring in this year’s Dogwoof line-up will reflect on documentary filmmaking today and discuss how it will evolve.

DAN SICKLES – DINA

Dan Sickles is a filmmaker living in New York City and Paris known for his first multi-award-winning title Mala Mala and the upcoming flick Dina, Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary winner at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. 

LANA WILSON – THE DEPARTURE

Emmy-winning filmmaker Lana Wilson will be premiering her Tribeca Film Festival
Jury Award for Best Documentary Feature nominated film The Departure. The former Performa Film and Dance Curator has given master classes, workshops and lectures at a number contemporary art and film institutions including Brooklyn’s non-profit Center for Documentary Art, UnionDocs, and the Downtown Community Television Center in Manhattan.

JAIRUS MCLEARY - THE WORK

Legal Videographer Jairus McLeary began shooting subjects in their natural setting back in college which spurred him on to create his first film, the SXSW Grand Jury Award Documentary Feature winning The Work.

NICK BROOMFIELD – WHITNEY ‘CAN I BE ME’

British film-maker Nick Broomfield studied Film at the National Film School and went on to create a number of award-winning documentaries including Kurt & Courtney, Tales of the Grim Sleeper and Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer.

Jon Olshefski – QUEST

Based in Philadelphia, filmmaker and artist Jon Olshefski behind the RiverRun International Film Festival runaway success, Quest, strives to honour the complexity of his subjects through collaborative production processes. Jon is currently an Associate Professor of Radio, TV and Film at Rowan University.
