The story of what happens when an ordinary journalist transplanted into the Middle East by the reverberations of 9/11, butts into history. Following the Iraq war Abu Musab al Zarqawi, the most vicious al Qaeda leader the world has ever seen brings the country to its knees orchestrating suicide truck bombings; the bloody horrors of the civil war; the televised beheadings. He captures it all on camera and shares it with the hard-drinking, hard‐running, maverick Michael Ware, an Australian reporting for American news outlets.
