The Spirit of '45 regional previews

This week the regional tour for Ken Loach's upcoming film The Spirit of '45 began, ahead of the full cinema release on March 15th. On Tuesday Ken was in Liverpool to preview the film at the Fact Cinema. Then on Wednesday we travelled with Ken to Cardiff, to screen the film at the Chapter Cinema to another sold out preview audience.

At the Liverpool event Ken was joined by contributors Sam Watts, Doreen McNally, Tony Nelson and Tony Mulhearn on stage after the screening. With Thatcher booed when she appeared on screen and students from Hope University out in force the screening was a big success. Some pics are below, but head to our Storify for more tweets and reactions from the event. It was also nice to see to hear from contributor Eileen who came along and said the film really brought her back! An interview with Ken can be read in the Liverpool post, and one of the students captured a couple of minutes of the Q&A on video.

The Cardiff screening was preceded by a live interview with Ken on Radio Wales (Listen here at 1h 45mins) and Ken was then on BBC Wales Today while the film screened at Chapter. Ken was joined on stage to take questions by contributors Dr Julian Tudor Hart, Dai Walters and Ray Davies, with the Q&A hosted by Michael Gubbins. The debate flowed again - we have created another Storify so you can catch up with our tweets, and we were chuffed to see Sound it Out director Jeanie Finlay in attendance!

The final regional preview was held in Derby where Ken was interviewed by journalist Nigel Powlson - you can catch up with this event on Storify too.

Fear not if you missed out on tickets for any of these screenings - they are all screening the film again, along with 40 other cinemas on March 17th as part of the Satellite Q&A event. Join people all over the UK on this day at 3pm to watch the film and then take part in a panel Q&A with Ken Loach, Owen Jones and Dot Gibson hosted by Jeremy Hardy.
