We released Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures in UK cinemas last week Friday to rave reviews! There was an entire week of sold out Q&A screening with directors Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato and people all across the UK are loving the film in cinemas and on demand.
Curzon Soho is hosting another special screening event of the film next week Tuesday with a panel discussion. The event is co-hosted by Stonewall and Positively UK and the panel discussion will focus on the impact of recent urban development on Soho's LGBTIQ community. The panel will consist of:
- Gavin Butt - Professor of Visual Cultures and Performance at Goldsmiths, University of London
- Ben Walters - Journalist, researcher and campaigner who wrote the application that made the Royal Vauxhall Tavern the UK’s first LGBTQ listed building
- Marc Thompson, National Co-ordinator Project 100, will take part in the panel discussion from Positively UK
- Robbie DeSantos Head of Campaigns at Stonewall (Britain’s leading charity for lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality)
- Hosted by Patrick Strudwick - journalist for The Observer, The Times, Gay Times and Attitude amongst others.
