We are chuffed to let our fans know that four of our films have been nominated for the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Film Awards. As the first event to honor independent film exclusively, the Film Independent Spirit Awards has made a name for itself as the premier awards event for the independent film community. It’s a celebration of the spirited pioneers who bring a unique vision to filmmaking.
An African Election, Bombay Beach and The Interrupters have all been nominated for an award in the Best Documentary category. Bombay Beach has also been nominated in the Truer than Fiction category.
An African Election looks at the 2008 presidential elections in Ghana, and is currently showing in cinemas. Bombay Beach is a poetic look at a community located in southern Californias Salton Sea, a land of thwarted opportunity and is released in cinemas on February 3rd. The Interrupters is a look at the heroic violence interrupters tackling gang crime on the streets of Chicago, and is released on DVD on December 5th. Bill Cunningham New York is a portrait of New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham, and will be released in cinemas on March 16th.
