STORY
Peter Schmeichel is a giant of football, perhaps the greatest goalkeeper of all time. In a professional career spanning 22 years, Schmeichel is the most decorated goalkeeper in Premier League history, was part of the Danish football team that won the European Championship against all odds in 1992 and captained Manchester United in the Champions League final victory that clinched the treble in 1999. Schmeichel is an incredible family story. One of great success, failure and redemption. Featuring unprecedented access to the international sporting hero, with a mix of never-before-seen personal archive footage, interviews with Peter Schmeichel, his family and key figures such as Sir Alex Ferguson, Eric Cantona and Gary Neville who have been a part of his journey both on and off the pitch.
FILMMAKER
Owen Davies is an award winning filmmaker and editor. He has cut critically acclaimed documentary features for cinema including I Believe in Miracles and the BAFTA Cymru nominated Don't Take Me Home, as well as Formula 1 Docuseries Drive to Survive, produced by James Gay Rees (Amy, Senna) and Paul Martin (Maradonna) for Netflix.
He has recently finished work on feature documentary The Three Kings, Series 3 of Drive to Survive both for Box to Box films and Fallen Idol part of the Bad Sport Series for Raw TV & Netflix.
Owen has also edited, directed and produced short films, documentaries and promos for Sky Arts, BBC, Creative England and the BFI. His work has been screened at film festivals around the world. He grew up the Midlands and is an enthusiastic follower of film, music and football.
